New Kitchen

Ryan and I have been working hard on remodeling our kitchen....it has taken us nearly 3 weeks...but we refinished the cabinets, and put in new counter-tops and new fixtures....new hardware.....and new stove...new microwave...new sink...and that is all I can remember....we are both extremely tired of painting!!!

Well yesterday began my official break from school! I had planned on taking class all three summer session, but after some persuasion from Ryan, he convinced me that I needed a break from school. This is the third consecutive summer that I have been enrolled full time in school. I also felt like my classes have effected the kids summer as well. I found out today that the class I was scheduled to begin today, has an opening for the fall. So I won't miss a beat. I will just take that chemistry class in the fall.
Anyway, we haven't done much on this break, but the kids and I hope to finish the summer off with a bang, by going to the pool, and just having a good time.
Looking forward to not having to get up early until the kids start back to school. As for me, class for fall start back up August 30th.

Of course we had to do a photo shoot while at the beach, and everybody did pretty well about not complaining. Here are just a few from that night. I loved this pier and it would be so nice to have this near by to take pictures of. I miss the beach so much. It is hard to explain, but I love the beach so much, and I feel so at home there. My kids love it too! I can't wait to go back!

I got an "A" on my biology lab practical. I had two test in my biology class on the same day. A lecture exam and a lab practical. I know that people get A's everyday, but this is the first time I have gotten an "A" on a lab practical. That being said, lab tests are VERY HARD! There is NO multiple choice, or true/false, nothing like that at all. In fact there are just 30 microscopes or specimens set up, and there is a pointer in each optical, and you have to know what it is and its function and sometimes even what the tissue or organ does around it. It is hard! I had my teacher put a big red "A" on the top of my paper, and he also included "super job" and a smiley face. Yes, in case your are wondering, it is on the fridge!

New Love Affair

I have to admit that I am late getting on the bandwagon, but I have read all of the books actually I could not put them down. Like my friend Tessie said, who needs to eat or sleep, or even do anything else but read the next page. These books were wonderfully written and I would recommend them to anyone. I was NOT going to read about vampires, the idea just seemed silly. But from page one, I literally could not set the books down. I do have to admit that my sister Heather is the one that finally convinced me to read the series. Thanks sis! I can't wait for Eclipse to come out next week! I am soooo excited! Here is a picture from the upcoming movie!

Cape Henry

We actually got to visit two lighthouses while in Virgina. They are right next to each other. The only one that visitors can go up in is the old one. The brownish colored brick one. The old one was built in the 1700's and the new one (blue and white) was built in the 1800's. It was really awesome. The only problem was that there was a pretty big hill before you even got to the light house, and then of course all of the steps of the lighthouse. It was worth it though! The view was spectacular!

On the boardwalk...

This was when we went down to the boardwalk in Virgina Beach. Let me just say that this bike looked really fun. And everyone that we saw riding them was laughing and smiling and having a great time. It was sooooo hot and humid, we thought that this would be a good idea, you know to get some wind on our faces. The bike had to weigh at least 250lbs, and then with Ryan and I on there, and the kids in the bike it was sooo heavy. Plus Aiden's feet couldn't touch the pedals so she couldn't help, and Noah claimed to be helping, but we caught him many times just resting his feet on the pedals and not actually helping. So needless to say, this looked like a better idea, than it turned out to be. We were all sweaty, and arguing by the time we got off. In fact the lady we rented from, who could speak very little English, said; "Why are you back so soon, is there something wrong with the bike?". All I could do was laugh, and walk away. Just looking at the photos now, makes me crack up. We looked and sounded completely ridiculous!

We were so proud of Aiden, she took her first holy communion this weekend. She even got to take the Eucharist up to the alter. After she got back to the pew, she said she was nervous, but I think I was just as nervous as she was. But she did great!

Ok I entered the student art show a couple of weeks ago, and I was thrilled when two of my photographs were chosen to be in the show. Sunday was the opening of the show, and the awards were also given out then. Well I was shocked and so happy when they called my name! My family, my mom, my sisters, and two of my great friends were there, so I was extremely nervous! But I won a merit award for $150.00! I was thrilled! The competition was fierce! I was not only honored to win an award, but to just be selected to be in the show!

I wanted to do something different to our room. I saw this idea from Nate Berkus, and I loved it! His bed was $300.00 plus shipping, and I thought that we could make it cheaper. And we did. I think that we ended up with all the supplies and goodies to make the head-board, and pillows, and valances was about $150.00. So I was pleased. I think it turned out really well. A few years ago when we moved to a king bed, we had a queen size head-board, and to buy a new one to only match our furniture slightly, was nearly $700.00. So needless to say, when went a different direction, and we are both pleased.

I have fallen in love with taking pictures again. There is something to be said for doing something just because you love it and not because you get paid to do it. Anyway here are some more pictures from my Dad's Farm. I call it a farm, mainly because he can and does grow just about everything. These days after living just out side the city for years, to me everything with more than 5 acres is a farm. I am not sure if my Dad would really like all of the images I have posted, but I love he and my step-mothers place and I hope they know how lucky they are to have a creek running through their property and the beautiful ground that surrounds their home. Deep down I know that he loves it, although it is a lot to take care of, I know he love this place because he doesn't like to leave! hehehe
I love these images not just because they are exposed correctly, but because the subject is close to my heart, and I have history there. I love these subjects because they have character. That is what makes the photographs beautiful to me.

The Creek in Late Fall

The project for my photography class was to shoot a series of photographs with several images of the same subject with different angles, or of different subjects with a similar theme. So while we where in central Indiana for the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to shoot this assignment at my Dads house. I got there at like 8am, after we had all stayed up really late the night before talking. My Dad took me around, knocking brush and sticks out of my way. It was great! We had some time just to ourselves to talk, and remminese about old times. It was probably about 30-40degrees outside and I know that my dad thought I was crazy when I pulled up my pant legs and waded in the creek to get these images. It was cold, but well worth it. Next time I want to get similar images but with snow everywhere but the creek itself. I am planning on bringing my rubber boots next time, so I don't have to get my feet wet! I have wanted to shoot this for years, and now I had an assignment to force me to take the time. Thanks Dad for getting up early with me!

~this picture is a bit grainy because I shot it at 1600 ISO, and it is slightly blurry because in order to get the correct exposure I had to shoot at a really low shutter speed, and because the clouds were moving and of course the movement of the moon and the earth! But I like it! I think it adds to mystery!

The Blog Suffers.....

Why is it when things get busy, that the blog is the first thing that goes out the window? I am sorry that I haven't posted in ages but the kids, school (mine and theirs), laundry, dinner always seem to take priority over the blog. I know that I am a terrible blogger I have heard this from more that one person, but admitting it is the first step right?
Things are in full swing around here. The kids are doing great in school, and they just started religious education classes again. Aiden and Broderick will take first communion this spring, so they have to take the classes if they want to participate in that. Noah is getting ready to start back up with his guitar lessons, I have tried to talk Aiden into dancing but of course she wants nothing to do with that!
My school is going good. I took 12 credit hours this summer and I made straight A's the entire time!! Woohoo! I hope to have made the dean's list for it, but I have yet to get my letter. I am still hopeful that I will get it! My goal is to make the dean's list for the fall semester too! We will see, chemistry is going to be the death of me!! Ryan is good, and working like crazy, as always!!!
I am looking forward to fall. I am tired of this weather and rainy, humid mess! I am ready for the cool nights and the 60 degree days!

Softball 2009

Just a few pictures of Aiden playing softball this summer. She really loves it and she has gotten really good. Two separate times during the season, the bases were loaded, they had two outs and she was up to bat.....she pulled thru and won the game both times! I was so nervous for her but she was calm, cool, and collected. After the game I came up to her and she was grinning from ear to ear...she knew what she had done! I couldn't have been more proud of her, not just for winning but being a gracious winner!

It's Offical.....

I have passed all of my classes. Not that I was to worried...well maybe a little about chemistry. But I am done with my spring classes. I sold and mailed off the last of my books yesterday, and thru away all of my notes and slides, that I wouldn't need for later classes. I am so glad to be done with those classes!! I started my first summer class yesterday. Going good so far. But I don't think she is very happy that I am going to miss three classes because of our cruise.....I have to say, that is not going to make me have any less of a good time!! It is an art history class to fulfill my humanities requirement...maybe I will pick her up a small piece of artwork...... I can't wait!! I am counting down....only 10 days until we get on the boat!!!!! Wooohooo!!
I also shadowed an OB/GYN on Monday...it was the most awesome thing!! She asked me if I wanted to go to surgery next week...ah...do you have to ask? Of course!! I can't wait for that!! Anyway...thanks for checking in!

Vectren is Moving In!

Vectren our power company, is replacing some of the poles that cross through our backyard. So here are just a few pictures of what they have been working on. Keep in mind that the large rock driveway that is seen in some of these used to be our yard, and before they started this project there was not a large section of our fence missing! No worries.....there are worse things in the world to be mad about. But I can't say the same for our neighbors......

"OK"......ready for the semester to be OVER!

Well just in case you are wondering I have not been kidnapped by aliens or something...I am busy trying to wrap up the end of the semester. Why is it that all classes seem to be way to heavy with material and projects and assignments at the end of the semester? I hate that! Why can't they hit us at the beginning of the semester when we still like the class? How's idea was this going to school business anyway? Oh yeah...it was mine. Things are good. Aiden was sick last week and I ended up taking her to my chemistry lecture...I couldn't afford to miss, and I didn't want Ryan to have to get up and mess up his sleep, so...she came with me. She was really good and my professor didn't even say anything. I am not really sure that it is allowed, but as much as I am paying to go to school, I think we can have a extra student for a day. Right?? I am doing good in all of my classes...mostly A's and B's, but I do hate chemistry...I could get a B in there if I got a 89% on my last test and my final. So I guess it is possible, but I am not sure if I can do it, so I will probably end up with a "C" which sucks... I probably like my chemistry class the best this semester and I really feel like I understand it....I guess I just don't test well. Plus my professor's test are extremely long and if you take time to think about it, or try to determine which formula would work best....you are out of luck... We only have fifty minutes in class and therefore, only fifty minutes for the test. And there is a class right after ours so we can't even stay over.
Enough about school....Noah started guitar lessons and is thriving at it!! He really loves it, and that makes me happy to see him really enjoy something that much. Aiden is in softball again this year and is enjoying the practices so far. Sometimes she gets tired at the practices...they are usually an hour and a half or so. Tonight she has a practice game that starts at 5:30, and is supposed to last 2 hours....what in the world....we are not training for the big leagues here. Anyway she has like 20 practices over the course of a month and we begin the season on May 2. She is a good hitter but doesn't enjoy being in the field as much.
Ryan is good...working like a maniac!! He in the middle of working 12 days in a row, most of which have been 12hrs...SO that sucks! He only has one day off..which is this Saturday and then he is working another 12 days in a row, probably 12hrs too! The only thing good about it is the money. I know that we need to be grateful that he has job!
I had a meltdown last Friday..Our air conditioner was not working and Ryan worked his magic, and still no luck..Ryan was sure that we needed a new compressor. Which are a minimum of $1000.00...and usually it is just smarter to replace the entire unit. So I was dying thinking that we were going to have to come up with $2000.00-2500.00..now you know why I had a melt down. But all is well...the guy from Shiendler heating and air came out and it just needs to be cleaned, and some "free-on", not sure how to spell that. So I had to apologize to Ryan for losing my mind for a bit.
Yesterday, I decided to take a "mental health" day, or at least that is what my sister calls it. I just knew that if I had to go I was going to go MENTAL!!! So I went to the gym and walked, then got a protein shake. After that I went to lunch with Anastasia and I got a salad and baked potato. Then she went with me to pick out some new glasses. I love them and I can't wait to get them! Hopefully by the end of the week they will call and say they are ready! It has been four or five years since I have bought new glasses. I just hate to spend the money! And contacts which I wear everyday are so expensive too...
Well anyway.....just thought I would drop in and give an update!

Here is a picture of the kids at the sock hop! We had a good time, I made Aiden's skirt with a little help! Thanks Adrienne! But this was the best I could come up with for Noah! He still looked cute!! Everyone had a good time, but I had a headache and the DJ played to music sooooo louddddd, I thought we were at a live concert! We only stayed a couple hours, that was all my head could handle!

10 Layouts in 1 Day!

Thats right I got 10 layouts done in one day!! I did just have to add some photos to some and a little journaling to another but the rest I put together and added some finishing touches too. Others I started from scratch. Of course there weren't any kids running around. I went over to Adrienne's house and we only had Asher with us! And he doesn't say much or ask any questions. We started at around 10:30 or 11:00am and only took a break for lunch, we stopped around 9:30pm. We both got a lot done! It was really fun, but next time I am going to make my own soup, instead of trying to get take out!! Here are some bad photos of the awesome layouts I completed!! P.S. Adrienne I got my posted before you!!

Greatest Birthday!!

Well I had one of the greatest birthdays ever!! Ryan made a yummy dinner , and the kids picked up the entire house, including Aiden's room, which was disaster! Ryan made a really nice cake that he decorated and made himself and invited over Heather and Mitchell, and Adrienne, and our Neighbors, Mary and Kim. It was really nice! My sister got me the cutest make up bags, and a face mask to heat or cool and put on my face when I have one of my headaches! My friend Adrienne got me a gift certificate to get a pedicure, my friend Ronda got me a basket of goodies, including a crazy bra, and a yummy bottle of wine! My friend Mary and her husband Eddie got me the prettiest flowers, and I love Gerber daisies!! My neighbors got me some scented lotion and some bees wax lotion. I also got to go out to dinner with two of my friends the night before my birthday, and we had a great time. I also have a scrapbook day scheduled with my great friend Adrienne on Sunday and we are going to get tons of layouts done!! We already have tons of snacks and goodies made up in preparation!! I also got some great cards from my mom and dad. Ryan parents took us all out to dinner last week, to Outback, yummmmm!!! It was just really great, probably one of the best birthday's I have ever had. I forgot to mention, that Ryan and I are going to the New Harmony Inn tonight we will spend the night and have breakfast will be included in the morning, he supprised me about two weeks ago, he couldn't wait to tell me. Here are some of my gifts. I will have to post some of New Harmony when we get back!! Thanks everyone for making this a great day!! I really do have the best family and friends!!

Today is the big day, the big "30". What is very strange is that most of the time I feel like I have lived several lifetimes, but simultaneously feel like this is all just going by so fast. I don't think that makes any sense but that is how I feel. Weird I know!! Man it just seems like high school was yesterday, and Ryan and I were just dating. Then it seems like Noah was just a baby too!! I must be having fun, because time is just flying!!! Well got to go I need to go grab a bite of lunch before I head to my next class. Yes, I am at school today don't they know that it is my birthday, and it should be a holiday!! Especially since I share my birthday with Abraham Lincoln, and Charles Darwin, I always new that I was special! hahahaha.

Snow Day!!!

The kids were all too happy to have a snow day today. Ryan and the kids were going to go out and play in the snow and I decided to go along to just take some pictures. I have to say we all laughed so hard and had a great time!! I even got on the sled but no one needs to see my back end. It was also a good excuse for Ryan to get out his 4-wheeler. Which we had some fun on too!! As a mother it is hard not to think of all of the extra laundry playing in the snow creates but I just pushed that out of my mind and had a good time with everyone else. Aiden couldn't make her own snowballs, so Ryan of course had to make hers, and then she got hit with two in a row and caused a melt down!! The snow wasn't perfect for sledding or snowmen, but we made the best with what we got, who knows if we will get anymore?

School is back in session

Well I am sitting here posting from school. I am sick today, I have a sore throat, it is so sore that I can't even drink anything without being in extreme pain. I am a little achy too. Which totally sucks, I hate feeling this way, but Aiden was sick about a week ago, so I am sure that I got what she had. I have a Dr's appointment after school today at 4:00pm, and I hope I don't die before then. I have already been to my chemistry lecture today and I just burning some time before my chemistry lab. I am hoping that we get out early, because of how I feel today!
Enough complaining, I am excited to start another semester, and get started on some new classes. I get a little bored by the end of the semester. I am taking chemistry, biology, sociology, abnormal psychology, and badminton, which I am sure will be the hardest class of all. hahahaha. I only have one class on Friday's and it is at 10:00am and only last 50 minutes, so can anyone say nap on Fridays, it is really sad how much I love to take naps, and on the weekends it is mandatory that I get one. I know that some of my friends think that naps are stupid but like I always say, naps make you live longer!!
I think that it is a little silly that at our ages that it is mandatory to have a physical activity on our schedule. I don't think that they know how fit I already am?? And how is badminton going to whip me into shape, if you can answer that let me know. I think it is just an excuse to get more tuition money out of us.

2008 Fall Flashback

We went to this cabin with the Engar's back in the fall, and had a great time. The weather was perfect and other the the buffet that we went to for dinner it was a blast. The adults had a campfire after putting the kids to bed (well trying to put them to bed). They still tried to get up and said that they were hearing things. We visited my grandparents at Thanksgiving time and most of our family was able to come and visit, which was nice because we don't always get a chance to get together. The family has grown so much in the last 10 years or so. Keep in mind, my uncle's wife and one of his son's was not there, they had left early because the little guy was sick. And one of my cousins lives in Florida with his wife and two children so there were six missing from this picture. I am sure that I was not the favorite person, but I wanted to get this shot, and after the fact I am sure everyone is glad that we took the time to do it!! Life is very short and you never know. We may not get the chance to have us all together again!

Trying to get back into the grove

We are slowly trying to get back in to our routine of things around here. But I have found myself taking a lot of naps this week and trying just to rest, that is code for being lazy!!! We had great Christmas, and I am glad that it is over. It is just so much work!! I think the kids got just about everything they wanted. More than they needed for sure!
Ryan and I finally took all of the christmas decorations down this week, which was considerably less than what we normally put up. So the house is back to normal and the kids are back to school. I start back on the 19th of Jan, I could use another couple of weeks off from school, but when the college made out their schedule for the year, they didn't ask me for my opinion. I did finish strong for the fall semester. I ended up with about a 3.1 GPA, which isn't bad for being out for about 10 years, but I would have liked to have done a little better. That is my goal for the spring semester. I am really looking forward to some of my classes. I am taking an Abnormal Psychology and I am really looking forward to that one. I have all of my books, so I am ready for the most part. I also bought a voice recorder so that I can record all of my lectures, so I can listen to them more than once.
Summer will be here before we know it, I am ready for some warmer temps!! I am looking forward to going to the pool everyday and getting some sun on these white legs! hahahahaha
Ryan, the kids and I went up to my cousins house this past weekend to make some sausage, and I can say that it was an experience. It is something that none of us had ever done before. I thought that it would be totally gross but it wasn't and the sausage turned out really well. We ended up with about 40lbs for our family, but we only bought a half of a hog. So we have plenty. We ended up buying a small deep freezer, we had been wanting one for a while, so this gave us a good excuse to get it.
Ryan is working a lot of course. It seems like the overtime is not slowing down a bit at his work. So even though it is nice having him home, we can't complain. Since some don't have a job at all.

Merry Christmas, everyone!! I am so not ready for christmas this year. Between finals, and gifts to buy, and christmas cards, baking and all of the holiday traveling, it seems a little overwhelming this year!! I feel so far behind. Oh and I forgot to mention the mountains of laundry that seem to never get any smaller. Why is that?
The good news is that I finally broke down and bought the stockings and tree skirt from pottery barn that I have been looking at for three years, and it finally came today!! I am sooooo excited!! I think they are so cute!! We have been using the stockings that I got from the dollar store several years ago, but they didn't have our names on them, no big deal but I am just happy to finally have these!! I also splurged and bought the matching tree skirt and had our name put on it!! I wanted it to say "The Nurrenbern's" but since our last name is five miles long it wouldn't all fit, but I still really like how it turned out!! Any way just a quick post to let everyone know that we are all still here and doing fine!!

I do believe that we need new blood in Washington, and even though I have had to catch some grief with Ryan our house voted differently in this election, this is a first for us. As much as I think that McCain is a good man and that he could also do a lot for our country I don't think that Palin was ready for such a role God forbid she have to take over. Ryan is convinced that I only voted for Obama because Oprah supported him. But the truth is that even though I do believe that she is a good judge of character she really had no influence over my vote. I think that for the first time in my history or at least the first time in my voting history I had the ability to vote for someone who is not a life time politician. I pray for all of the leaders of this great country. I hope that we can leave it in better shape financially, environmently and in all other ways before we pass it on to our children, that is my prayer. So even if you didn't vote the same as I did , now we all have to come together and find a way to look toward the future as one. Here is a really good video that I was lucky enough to see in Chicago while in the audience at the Oprah show. It really touched me, and I just wanted to share.

I just had to share this. I got the highest grade on my Communications test. I got a 106 out of 100. There are about 170 students in that class so it is not that easy to be at the top!! I was really happy about it!! Sorry for the terrible picture of it but I had to show the proof!!

Well since I have quit my business it has been nice not having to pick up my camera. I have to say I do miss it a little. March was the last time I used my camera very much and that was really only because Ryan and I went to chicago. I have been wanting to take some pictures of the kids and one of our friends Kelly, said that we could use her mom's place to take some pictures so we did. I think they turned out really well!! Here is a picture of Noah in his new glasses. He had told me a while back that he was having trouble seeing the board and that he sat in the very back of the class. I really didn't think much about it, because his cousin has glasses and now he has contacts and I just thought that Noah wanted them because Jonathon had them. Then about a week or two ago the nurse called and said that she had tested him and that his vision was off. So I made the appointment and got him in to the doctor, and sure enough he needed glasses. Here are just a few of Aiden and her BFF Chloe during their team pictures, that almost didn't happen, it was starting to sprinkle as we got there. But all is well and we got all of our team done which is good, I would hate to have to reschedule picture day with our busy schedule right now!

The girls are the best of friends and at times fight like the siblings. They usually play and get along very well and they love to have sleep-overs! When the sleep-over is at our house, we always go and get donuts in the morning for all of us!! That is a treat!!

Next Tuesday is the start of my fall classes, I am very excited but I would be lying if I said that I wasn't a little scared. It seems like it has been so long since I have been in school. I am taking five classes this semester. Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Visual Art, and Communications. In high school I was just a B and C student, I never studied or brought home a book. I could get by on just the minimum, and that was fine by me. I was much more interested in socializing with my friends. So over the summer I took 9 credit hours which is more than full time for the summer, (full time in the summer is 6 credit hours). My GPA is at a 3.1 right now. I really wanted to have it at a 3.6 by the end of the summer session, but that algebra class proved to be tougher than I remember! So the kids have been in school for about three weeks now, and I have enjoyed having the house to myself during the day, it sometimes can be a little too quiet, I never thought I would say that!!!! If you don't see a post from me in a while, you will know why, it will be because I have my nose stuck in a book somewhere. I have class on campus everyday, and I plan to take advantage of the free tutoring that the school offers!! It was a life saver with my algebra class!! The only class I am worried about is the chemistry class, it wasn't my strongest class in high school, all of the other classes I am really looking forward to!! Anyway take care and I will keep you posted on my progress and how the kids are doing too!! I might even post some of my test, I try to put the kids test on the fridge when they do really good and I might even put some of mine up there this year too!! I will try and write as often as I can!!

Adrienne and I went to see Step Brothers last night. We went to two different theaters and then back to the first one for a second time trying to find a show that was actually playing at the advertised time. It was almost like we were not suppose to see it, but we persevered and made to the 10:00pm show. It was totally worth all of the craziness trying to actually get there!! We laughed so hard we cried and I almost peed my pants. Sooooo funny!! This is a must see, and I will probably buy it when it comes to DVD!! I love Will Ferrell! He reminds me so much of Ryan!! It was as good as Ricky Bobby!!

We had a small party for Noah's 10th birthday last night. It turned out really well the weather was nice, and he loved all of his gifts! Thanks everyone for coming!! Ryan and I got him a Nikon Coolpix Camera, and he loves it. He really wanted a SLR camera, but we told him that he is too young for that!! The funniest part was that I guess I bought some candles that you can't blow out by mistake, I didn't know it when I bought them, but they were kind of like sparklers, so the flames were out of control as you can see from the picture!! He blew them out completely about 4 times, but they kept relighting! It was hilarious, we were all cracking up!! Noah was too!! We decided to do cupcakes this year, wow it was so much easier!! Should have thought of that much sooner!! It was especially easy because we were all outside and we just let the kids pick them up and eat them, and it was great!! The one bad thing was that Ryan was not supposed to work but the found out the night before that he would have to work, but I think that we still had plenty of time to visit and stuff!!

Both of the kids are in school full time! Can you believe it?? I can't! I am not sure what I am going to do this week, or for the next three weeks before I start back to school myself. I think I would have been a lot more emotional if Aiden would have been scared at all. But she wasn't of course she almost didn't even want to kiss Ryan and I bye. But after Noah gave us a hug and said bye she realized that she had forgotten and decided that I guess it was "OK" to say bye in front of the other kids at the bus stop. She is completely ready for First Grade. Noah is very excited to begin Fourth Grade, there class is taking like 10 field trips this year because the study Indiana history so they will go all around the state. It seems like not to long ago that neither one of the kids were in school and it is going to take a while to realize that I don't have to go pick up someone in 2 1/2 hours. I am so sad to see summer go, we always try and make the most of summer and this year was no different. We went to Holiday World (opened and closed the park...thanks Engars!), and spent almost every sunny day at the Newburgh Pool, and had sleep overs with their friends, went for ice cream at the downtown grill, had some party's at our house with our friends and just had a wonderful summer. But this last week I could tell that the kids were getting board and needed something to do! It's official summer is over, and the new school year is here!

Noah was asked at the end of his third grade year to grow a small cabbage plant for a little "start"that he was given. Well there is a contest involved and we have to send in his picture and a picture of the cabbage to be eligible for a $1000 scholarship for college. And since we are college poor right now with my tuition and books and gas and all the miscellaneous fees, cost of gas and all the stuff I can't think of right now. We have totally encouraged him to do this because every bit helps!! So "Bud" I hope you win, you deserve it! Noah is such a great student he will be successful at whatever he decides to do!!

We had the best time in Chicago, we went back in March for our 10 year anniversary. This picture we sat the timer for, and ran like crazy to get back in place, we were on Navy Pier, which I think would have been much better had it been warm out. There were a lot of patio resturants, and stuff like that to sit out and eat, but it was all closed when we were there.

The kids took swim lessons again this year! I always think it sounds like a good idea and then after the first couple of days waiting in the hot sun for them to get done, I am rethinking my decision! The kids love it and learn so much so I know that it is worth it!! Hello, yes I am still alive.........At least for the moment. I have been working the last couple of weeks at my new job and I started school about three weeks ago I guess.... Ryan has totally been a huge help!! Love him!! Here is a logo from one of the two places that has been dominating my time lately. I would so love to have some new pictures to post of my kids but sorry folks...this is all I have!!

The kids are finally out of school, and I think they are just so happy, especially not to have real strict bed times!! I have signed them up for swim lessons and I bought a family pool pass. The pool is open but I want to wait a little, it seems like it takes forever for the water there to warm up! We might also sign the kids up for karate at the "Y". We are going on Thursday for a trail class. So we will see! Other than that we are just staying busy, getting ready for Aiden's dance recital, and finishing up her last couple of games of softball! I know we are super glad to see summer break at our house!!

Things have been changing around our house lately, starting with I am going to be working at the hospital (part-time) and I am going back to school (full time). So I made a list for Ryan and the kids to look at while I am gone. When I am gone (at most maybe 4-6 hours) most of the time less than that, I come home and my house looks like a tornado came thru!! They (husband and both kids) say they don't know what to do, I always say just look around. So now there will be no questions about what needs to be done.

~pick up house (like Mom would do it!)
~dishes
~kids homework, sign agenda books, and empty papers for me to look at
~laundry
~take out trash (when needed)
~feed dog and cat
~make sure all outside toys are in garage before dark
~pick up kids rooms
~sort thru mail and shred junk mail

To be done if all the above is done and you need something to do:
~sweep carpet, tile and hardwood
~dust
~wipe down bathrooms
~Windex fridge, stove, dishwasher, and microwave
~wash all sheets and make the beds

To be done if you feel real energetic and want to really make Mom feel good
~mop tile and hardwood floors
~clean bathrooms real good
~go to the grocery and get things we will actually eat
~plan a meal and cook it
~clean out garage

I thought this was a great idea, but my husband didn't share my enthusiasm. I will post later how this is all working out. Thanks for stopping in!!

Chicago watch out!!

Ryan and I went to Chicago for our anniversary back at the end of March and we had a really great time! Our hotel actually had some construction going on and it woke us up one morning so we got upgraded to a suite at no extra charge. Very nice!! Here are some pics from our trip. Look for us in the picture of the "Bean" I took several but kept cutting of our heads or feet! hahahaha. There are two pics of the "Bean" it just looks like a giant kidney bean in the middle of Millennium Park, one you can see us in, and the other is just the reflection of the skyline!! Very cool!! We went to Garret's popcorn, and ate some real Chicago deep dish pizza, yummmm!! I be we walked about 20 miles or more the entire time. We walked pretty much everywhere!! I love taking trips like this just my hubby and I, but I am always glad to get back to see the kiddo's!! I would love to take the kids there!! There is so much to do, and see!! Just remember not to put your transit card in the money slot on the bus, it will "eat" the card and then your are out of luck!! Thanks for stopping by!!

The kids and I have been thinking about doing some serious recycling. They have been talking about it a lot at school, and I think we are going to go to Lowe's and get some recycle containers to put our glass, plastic, steel cans and aluminum cans, and paper. My sister has been doing it for a while and she too has been pressuring me to get started!! Love ya sis!! Anyway I took this really cool picture in Chicago at the science and industry museum and I thought it was fitting for today's post!! Thanks for checking in!!

First post, some of you might be wondering what in the world is going on, but I have recently closed my business (and my website as well) which I used for both family stuff and business stuff mostly business postings. My blog was attached to my website which in no longer online so I have decided to start yet another blog. Sorry for all of the confusion, I am confused myself, so don't feel bad. But anyway on to what else is going on here, tonight the kids and I went over to the Engar's house for their youngest daughter's 1st birthday. We had a great time, and I think that she made possibly the cutest cake I have ever seen. It was a 3-D bear cake, tooo cute!! Wish I had a picture!! I found this picture from our trip to New Orleans. I have lost 44lbs since this picture was taken, Woo Hoo!! I know this picture has nothing to do with a first post but I have had several people ask me what was going on and what happened to my blog. So Adrienne here it is honey!! hahaha Had a great time tonight thanks for letting us crash the party!!
